waynew: AI-Driven Personalized Course Generation

waynew is an AI platform that transforms a simple learning goal into a complete, personalized curriculum. Users describe what they want to learn, optionally add background and constraints, and waynew generates a structured curriculum with adaptive modules, lessons, and learning paths that evolve as the learner progresses.

Co-founded project where I led full-stack engineering and product architecture, owning the complete technical vision from design through deployment.

Product Experience

The frontend is a clean, intuitive React + TypeScript interface styled with Tailwind, designed to eliminate friction between intent and usable learning plan. The backend supports dynamic, non-linear course structures that adapt without breaking coherence—curricula branch, expand, or simplify based on learner goals, prior knowledge, and depth preferences without requiring restart.

Technical Approach

At the core is adaptive course generation. Rather than static templates, the system creates interconnected learning pathways that account for evolving learner needs. MongoDB schemas handle non-linear paths, revisions, and incremental expansion. Real-time progress tracking allows curriculum refinement or regeneration mid-course without losing coherence.

The main engineering challenge was maintaining consistency and reliability across large, variable-length AI-generated curricula. I implemented validation layers, retry logic, and editing flows that keep content usable and coherent as complexity scales.

Outcome

waynew enables learners to go from “I want to learn X” to a structured, personalized curriculum in seconds. The adaptive system creates courses that evolve with the learner, turning vague learning goals into actionable, coherent learning paths.
